The building pictured is known as the Alhambra. It was located at 275 James Street (which was just about at the corner where James meets State Street - where Crouse Hinds installed the first traffic light in Syracuse. (Reference: They Built A City - by William F. Roseboom and Henry W. Schramm, p.68)
Per the Feb. 28th, 1955 edition of the Post Standard newspaper, the Alhambra was 71 years old - which would mean it was built circa 1884. The article describes it having a side of the building touching Pearl Street, and a side touching Oswego Blvd. (former Oswego canal)and that it was near St. John the Evangelist church building.
I cannot confirm this, but I believe this is a parking lot area now, or has overpass columns going through the area.
The headline of this paper says, "Arson suspected in $500,000 Blaze" - and shows a picture of firefighters putting out the shell of the building. So it was burned in 1955.
The paper says it housed "The Supper Club, Syracuse Plastic Molders, Crawford Door Sales, Syracuse, Inc., the Jack Mancini Tobacco Company, Poodle's restaurant and the Adams Floor Co."
In Jan/Feb. 1906, evangelist J. Wilbur Chapman conducted Christian revival meetings here.

Geraldine Ferraro
While visiting Syracuse in 1990 Geraldin Ferraro is talking with Holly Sammons at Onondaga Democratic Headquarters. Note campaign posters in background.
